Terms of Use
These terms apply to Oratio, an iPhone app that reads your books aloud. Sergii Shulga, an independent developer, provides the app.
Licence
Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs your use of Oratio. The sections below add information about the subscription and about content.
Oratio Plus
Oratio is free to download. Oratio Plus is an optional subscription with a monthly plan and an annual plan.
- Oratio Plus unlocks the premium voices in all your books and the import of your own EPUB files.
- Without Oratio Plus, you can use the catalog of free books and Apple’s built-in voices, and you can try the premium voices in a Starter Book.
- The app shows the price before you buy. Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- To manage or cancel the subscription, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.
- Oratio Plus supports Family Sharing.
- Apple handles all payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If your subscription ends, your imported books and your reading progress stay on your iPhone, and Apple’s voices continue to work.
Books and voices
- The catalog lists public-domain books from Project Gutenberg. Book files download directly from Project Gutenberg and keep its notices and licence.
- You are responsible for your right to use the EPUB files that you import.
- The narrator voices are synthetic, and Oratio generates them on your device. The voice models have their own licence notices. You can read them in the app at Settings › About › Acknowledgements.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what Oratio does with your data.
